Dog Wash in Perth

Would you like some help and advice from our expert dog groomers proving Dog Wash in Perth? Here are a few frequently asked questions and answers.

Do you use hot water?

No, definitely not! We only use lukewarm water in our baths for safety, stress and hygienic reasons. Hot water can be a potentially painful and scary experience for dogs, and also, it can be seriously irritating for any existing skin problems, too.

How often should I wash my dog?

At fortnightly intervals. More washing will dry out the dog’s skin, particularly with some types of commercial dog wash chemicals, which can be far too harsh. We use clean fresh water for every dog and our baths are disinfected daily or as needed throughout the day.

Important, please note – Puppies under the age of 4 months should NOT be bathed if they have not had the correct immunisation, to keep disease from spreading to other dogs.

Do you use shampoo for sensitive skin?

Yes; we use an Australian-made pH balanced shampoo that doesn’t dry out the skin and natural oils to ensure that washing is safe for skin and doesn’t cause chemical irritations.

I’m trying to get my dog used to washing and grooming. How do I do that?

It’s important for dogs that are afraid of water or scared of the unfamiliar environment of washing and grooming to be well acclimatised. This is particularly important for puppies, who can be severely frightened by this strange new experience. We slowly introduce them to the bathing experience with a friendly environment and a series of treats and rewards.

Do you have a flea shampoo?

Yes. The shampoo we use will kill any fleas that are on the dog at the time of bathing.  Ask us about products and solutions to kill fleas long term. Flea treatment needs to be targeted to protect your dog and decontaminate areas where it sleeps and lives. This includes the kennel, favourite lounge chair or spot in the family home on your bed or carpet.
